People usually come to coaching because they want something in their lives to change.   Life coaching generates insights, encourages self awareness and self belief, motivation and action.   It addresses the whole person - past, present and future - their values, needs and relationships.

I help clients think of ways to seek a solution to their problems.   We work together with the aim of achieving increased effectiveness in clients' lives through focussed and creative thinking.

When I meet a client we will compile a draft of their goals as set by themselves.
These might include one or more of the following:

• to improve an important relationship whether personal or professional

• to achieve a better work/life balance

• to manage time better

• to decide the next step in their career

Clients evolve then modify an action plan to best suit their needs and together we work towards implementing this plan.    I help clients identify skills and think about strategies, enabling them to use these to the best of their ability.     Negative thoughts which act as barriers to our ability to think are challenged, enabling clients to think again, setting the mind free of limiting assumptions.

I offer clients feedback, and the two-way collaborative nature of the work gives the client the opportunity to tell me what is working for them and what might not be working.

Many people want to deal with a difficult relationship - whether personal or professional.   Conflict in a relationship often provides an opportunity to improve that particular relationship by creating mutually satisfactory solutions.   Part of the work is to examine the conflict by thinking about patterns of relating and  identifying alternative ways of communicating.

Sessions are usually one and a half hours, over a period of a few months.Clients leave each session with a plan of action including a goal set by themselves.    They are responsible for their own achievements and success;  the client takes action, I assist but never lead.

This focussed model is derived from solution focussed therapy, cognitive behaviour therapy, transactional analysis and cycle of change.
